Description

Clingman's Dome is a .5 mile steep trek up a paved trail to an elevation of 6,643 ft. This is the highest point in the entire Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is a very popular spot within the park. At the summit there is a 54 ft observation tower taking you above the coniferous rainforest. On a clear day there is a 360 degree view of the park and the seven surrounding states.

Directions

Turn off Newfound Gap Road 0.1 mile south of Newfound Gap and follow the 7-mile-long Clingmans Dome Road to the large parking area at the end.
